This is a form of atherosclerosis involving the arteries that supple blood to your abdominal and pelvic organs.

This can become a problem if you develop pain when you eat, have a “fear of food”, or losing a significant amount of weight because you are not eating. Our vascular lab can screen for significant stenosis using state of the art ultrasonography. If diagnosed, your doctor may recommend a CT angiogram or an aortogram to assess the blockage further. If you are recommended to undergo and aortogram, your surgeon can often times place a stent and balloon it while they are diagnosing the problem. Please tell your provider if you feel like this is something you may have.
